Crunch & munch

Hello & welcome to another late night/ early morning post. I have been up since 10:45pm (work) and I'm counting the hours until I can break free from necessity & continue on my creative journey to Saturday. Thus, I titled this post "crunch & munch" seeing as how now, I officially have 2 days till craft show time!

This past weekend we were able to get alot done, but left more still for the week ahead.  I have crocheted washcloths (custom orders), made soap (all by my self...go me!) and painted my behind off...with still more crocheting & painting to be done. Truth be told, I could probably get by with what signs I have painted but just dont want to stop.  I keep coming up with more ideas, actually most of them are tweaked versions of something I spotted on etsy or pinterest. Which, mind you, I have no problem with doing seeing as how most crafters do this very same thing. There is no copyright or patent for a 'quote' or idea. If there was, I would gladly stop using it & move on to the next. My fans on fb as well as my friends keep me busy with ideas and custom signs they find. This week alone I have had two ideas from outside sources, one from one of my best friends & the other from a high school friend. I expect that I will have more in the near future.

This just came to mind, speaking of ideas. If I see a product I want, and I know some way of getting said similar product cheaper & faster, dont you think for one minute that I will over pay! If someone sees a something they want, & they are satisfied with the job I do, I dont care one bit to help them out. EVERYBODY wants to buy things for their home, if I can make that a bit more affordable I will. Does this make sense? Sure does to me :)

Anywho.......I am off to the kitchen table to finish some lettering. Got my ringer turned up, hoping its not super busy between now & 7am so I can finish the sign I'm working on. If I do not finish, I will feel that I need to stay up instead of sleeping a few hours. And everybody that knows me, knows I'm better off with sleep...haha!

Should be sleeping

I really should lay down for a bit, seeing as how I have been up since 10:00 last night. But, in true crafter spirit, I have decided to stay up for a bit & re-fuel...the coffee is smelling wondermus!
I have decided that I will not post any new signs or items (except soap) until after the second craft fair I will be setting up at. This is not to be rude, but to keep some suspense going for my fans that will be attending the fairs.  Plus, I am going to be far to busy to post every single new item that is made. So, yes, I am painting today, but no, you can't see...hehehe!
Bob & I have decided to go on a last minute supply spree on Saturday. I am so excited I can hardly contain myself!  There is much to do before the 28th. Soap must be made, cured & packaged. Washcloths & face scrubbies must be crocheted, and lots of signs must be painted (by hand of course!). Besides all this, we must design some sort of display for hanging signs at the cf (craft fair). Also, the hubbs has lots of leather to tool between now and then, he is getting better & better with every item he tools! I'm so proud of him!
Welp, I'm off here to pour myself some go juice & get busy! I plan on having paint flying within a few short minutes!

Almost a year later.........

Well, well...this is crazy! I don't know where to start! A lot has gone on in the past year. Moved back to Tennessee....YAY! Started tons more crafty projects, several of which have proven to be successful for SewCrafty! I'm super duper excited also, about the two upcoming craft fairs I will be attending! The first is 4/28, second 5/5. Bob has started tooling leather, he does a great job too! We just started his fb page, Down Time Leather Works, this past weekend. He's still a newbie at the whole 'page' thing on fb, but with my guidance he should do just fine :)
We have also started making homemade glycerin soap! Man, has that been a learning experience in itself! It's a lot of fun, and something we do together. Yea, we are gross like that....we like to spend time together...imagine, a married couple that wants to be around each other...ha! Oh well, go figure!
So, as the sun slowly starts to rise to start a new day, I am groggily blogging, trying to think of anything I'm leaving out of this short update.  Oh, cant believe I almost forgot this part! One of my best friends has been working on a quilt for me for a while. As I freshened up my fb group 'Homewoven Handycrafts', I encouraged her to post pics of it, if nothing just to show it off.  From that, she has gotten two orders for custom quilts! Also, she & I went through my extra fabric yesterday & she is started on some 'joint projects' she & I are gona tackle, yea, I know...I don't already have enough projects going. But, if it keeps me busy & happy I'll keep up the chaos!
Until next time....I'm oot! Gota get things together for this weekend of crazy crafting!

Monday Monday

UGH! another Monday!  I though Spring was here, but it is SNOWING and it seems Old Man Winter has decided not to part ways as of yet....just like a man!! LMBO!!!!  Ah, now that my coffee has been drank, I have checked out the latest on my coupon pages, and I have had my bowl of Frostes Mini Wheats..mmmm, the kind with fruit in the middle, now I can carry on with my day.  I had really hoped there would be some awesome deals out there for me to take on today but nothing I thought we couldnt live without since it is so cold and icky out. So, I will carry on with the plans that I tried to get done this weekend....posting some new items on the etsy site and getting some more aprons and things done so that I may take my wares to the flea market as soon as the weather permits.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention one great thing, business related, that happened this weekend!!  We were at the flea mkt on Saturday, checking out this booth that had all kinds of small business items, like jellies, dip mixes, and more.  We decided to give a few of the dip mixes a try and as we were checking out I told the cashier "you need a few of my handmade aprons and grocery bag holders for sale in here" she replied "sure, I'll tell her (the owner), she is always looking for new stuff from local people".  I was so excited! I gave her a business card for SewCrafty and that made my day!  I am sure that I looked like an idiot walking around grinning from ear to ear for no apparent reason. Wow! Maybe things will start picking up some now.....i dont know but we shall see!!!

Sew, sew, sew!!

I love to sew! I do not, however, enjoy using patterns! Actually, I am afraid of them, have never tried one and dont plan on it either.  That is, any store bought pattern. I do have a "pattern" I made up for my aprons, but that has been made by me, for me so I understand it fully...LOL!  I think God has allowed me to have a basic understanding of some things, I dont know that I would call it "talent" because some things I sew turn out better than others (for example, I will never be famous at dress making, but my aprons and grocery bag holders are decent).  No two aprons are alike, unless specefied in an order, I do whatever hits me at the moment.  I grab this and that, sift through buttons, look though my fabric stash until an idea hits me. I'm on my way back to finish a second apron for my cousin Tosh, then I have 3 half aprons to post on my etsy site...keep an eye out and let me know what you think!!

So much to do.....

Wow! I really meant to keep up with this better than I have. I get so caught up with work, family and crafting that I find it hard to even think sometimes!! UGH! I need a clone!
In the past few months I have managed to sell a few things on my etsy site, YAY! And I have started full force into the apron stage of my crafting adventure.  I posted a few pics of some I made for my dear friend Jess and it has taken off from there. (winks...thanks Jess!!)  I have orders for a few more that should keep me busy through the weekend, and I am about to head out in search of trinkets to add to them, I have soooo many ideas, we shall see what I come up with! Have a great day and God Bless you!

Aahhhh....the overnight!

So, I sit here working the overnight shift on my "real" job.  I am in the process of crocheting a scarf for my cousin, Sarah, in her school colors. I have several other projects going now also, but they have gotten too large to tackle while sitting at my desk. They are Chirstmas gifts for special family members, I love handcrafting for people who actually appreciate the time involved in making the item.  There are so many things going through my head at this hour, but it seems I keep getting sidetracked with other what I consider 'awesome' ideas...so goes the craziness in my noggin.  Nothing new, this coming from the wife/mother who somehow seems to keep things together while at the same time forgetting what she walked into the room for in the first place!  I hope to have a few new things on my etsy site very soon, I was able to add two new items this past week.  For now though, it is thoughts of Christmas gifts that fill my days........
